Sepahijala
Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, located about 25 km from Agartala in Tripura, is a renowned biodiversity hotspot spread over 18.5 square kilometers. Established in 1987, it serves as both a wildlife sanctuary and a research and educational center. The sanctuary is best known for its rich variety of flora and fauna, especially its population of primates such as the rare spectacled monkey (Phayre’s langur), rhesus macaque, pig-tailed macaque, and slow loris. It also shelters other animals like leopards, barking deer, and numerous bird and reptile species.
