Maitri Bridge
The Maitri Bridge, also known as the Friendship Bridge, is a significant international bridge connecting Sabroom in South Tripura, India, with Ramgarh in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts. Inaugurated in March 2021, the bridge spans the Feni River and symbolizes the strong bond of friendship and cooperation between India and Bangladesh. It serves as a vital link to boost trade, connectivity, and people-to-people relations between the two nations. The 150-meter-long bridge provides the landlocked northeastern states of India direct access to the Chittagong seaport, located about 80 kilometers from the border, greatly enhancing regional trade and transportation efficiency. Beyond its economic significance, Maitri Bridge also strengthens cultural and diplomatic ties, promoting mutual development and connectivity in South Asia. Surrounded by lush landscapes and the tranquil Feni River, it stands as a modern marvel and a proud emblem of cross-border harmony.
